In an emergency always call 999 info@basicsnw.org

We welcome you all back to our CPD evenings after a fairly hectic summer! For this event we are joined by our very own Dr. Tim Smith who has recently undertaken (and passed) the Diploma in Immediate Medical Care. He will guide us through his path to Edinburgh, and what was expected of him when he sat the examinations!

Tim is an emergency department consultant now working at Leighton Hospital, he has many years of experience working in the Major Trauma Centre at Aintree University Hospital, as well as being an active responder for BASICS North West.

The DipIMC is a qualification offered by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh of which the examination is designed to test the knowledge, skills and behaviours of pre-hospital emergency care practitioners. The level of performance expected is that commensurate with level 5 on in the Skills for Health Career Framework (www.skillsforhealth.org.uk). Level 5 practitioners have a comprehensive, specialised, factual and theoretical knowledge within day-to-day pre-hospital emergency care, clinical practice and awareness of the boundaries of that knowledge.

The diploma is aimed at doctors, nurses, and paramedics who work in the pre-hospital setting and all must have at least two years post-registration experience within the field. More information can be found here.

The evening will be held at the Media Factory in room ME320, which is a building in the Preston Campus of UCLan. To book a ticket please use the form below.
